I wish to express my deepest sympathy on the death of Mr. Quinn. As you cherish fond memories of him, please find comfort in the promise of our Lord, who has been given the authority to resurrect those in the graves to life, as stated at John 5:26-29. This will happen in the very near future. Imagine how overjoyed you could be when you are reunited with Mr. Quinn again. I pray that this Bible based truth brings relief to your grieving hearts.

Gary, it was an honor to have walked this world with you. Miles may have separated us, but I still had your music anytime I wanted to remember. There will be an empty place in my life without you now. What will remain are the memories of the good times we had, of your music, your humor, and your friendship. See you again some time.

Gary and I walked along so many roads togeher, played in so many bands, from
the Heard onward. We were like brothers at times, or like spiritual pigrims at others, then we were musical explorers. Our shared memories overlap in countless ways that losing him is like losing part of my own memory and my own life. His final year and a half was heroic and inspiring, as difficult as it was at times, he was never bitter and looked towards the next phase of the unknown. For Valerie and I being part of Jan and Gary's lives, spending hours recalling the many crazy and good times once again was something we will always cherish. In my opinion he was the best song writer ever to come out of Rochester, a gentleman, a rapid wit, and a deep thinker. I was proud to have him as a friend. See you later Gary. ZOCE

I met Gary about 30 years ago through my good friend John Nau.
I always had great respect for him as a person, and his talent.
John Nau suggested one of Gary's tunes for an album I was working on in 2000.
The song was "On Certain Days"
I loved it instantly, and that made it easy for me.
It's a great song, and I'm very happy to be a part of it.
After the album was released,he told me that he played one of my songs repeatedly, because he liked it so much. That meant an awful lot to me,coming from such a great writer.
I'll never forget that.
Thank You Gary, for being my friend. And Thank You for the song.

Gary was my first love as a teenager. I haven't seen or had contact in many, many years but the notice of his death hit a soft spot. He was a music idol in Rochester in the 60's. As lead singer of the Heard he was way cool. I'm sure his music continuned to touch thousands over the years. Now, may the angels lull Gary into everlasting peace.

I've known Gary and Jan for most of my life. Jan tells me I introduced them, but I don't remember, anyway, apparently it turned out ok. I loved Gary's music and his sharp mind and keen wit. He would always play my favorite music whenever I came to visit and he loved alot of the same music I did and it was great to be able to share that love with someone who got it. Jan and Gary have always been there for me through the years and they are and always will be a class act and a hard one to follow. God bless you my friend and say hi to everyone for me. Love you.QAC

My fondest memories of Gary were when he was in the group, the Heard, and I was their "fan club president". I was 15 at the time and loved sneaking in to hear the band and of course go to the Teen dances! Gary was so much fun, and his passing is such a loss. Even though I haven't kept up with the Band or their families in all these years, my heart still goes out to them. I know Jan will not remember Linda Novitski from 1965+ but I remember her and send her hugs... Gary will be having a ball with Brad and Kim now...

Gary was one of the best friends a person could ever have..he, together with Jan, could make anyone feel welcomed, accepted, and important. I believe the lessons he taught all of us re; forgiveness, love, loyalty, and duty will be even more profound in his absence. We may have disagreed on some things but agreed on most things..and those things would include: keeping an open heart in tough times, being ever grateful for what you have and don't have, laughter is the best medicine, and even when you've hurt someone deeply, you can and must make it right again. I loved Gary for everything he was and he will always be like a brother to me. He was so brave in the end and no matter what his pain or feelings were , I will always remember those big blue eyes shining and the smile that was immediate when he saw you. God bless Jan, his family, and the many, many people who will grieve this loss.

I joined "The Heard" fan club in 1965 ~ and even though I was only 13 years old, I thought that Gary was the "coolest" ~ was fortunate to connect with him a few years ago when he was playing at The Gables -- very good man and an inspiration ~ so glad our lives crossed and so sad he left this world so young.

I remember meeting Gary through Bob Limner in our late teens, and working on his songs. Hangin' out with Gary, Brad Wheat, Bob, Randy Wheat was great fun. I felt honored to play with Gary and the guys, and 'got' that he was a great songwriter.
I fondly remember writing songs in Gary's kitchen, and am so glad that some of our collaborations made it on Duke Jupiter albums. That felt GREAT! When we played "I'm Available," I was always happy to say, "my great friend, Gary Quinn, wrote this one." I've always looked up to Gary and am proud to have been his friend.
I always respected his musical opinion—in regards to music in general, and about my songwriting. He was alway candid and fair, and gave me the 'thumbs up' when appropriate. I knew when I got his nod nod that I was onto something.
Love!
Greg
