ABOUT US

In 1890, the Mattle family started our tradition of providing quality funeral services with Mattle Funeral Home at 300 Cumberland Street in Rochester, NY. In 1958 the business was moved to 853 Culver Road, near the corner of East Main Street. The new location was not only known for providing exceptional service to families in their times of need, but also for the beautiful rose gardens where many newly married couples would come to have wedding photos taken.

Malcolm Nulton, a well-respected funeral director in the Rochester area for many years, started the Nulton Funeral Home, with his wife, Joanne, at 1704 Penfield Rd., Penfield, NY in 1962. In 1981 the Nultons purchased the Mattle Funeral Home and in 1996 the businesses merged into the Penfield Rd. location. Jeffrey Jennings, a funeral director since 1987, came to work for the Nultons in 1998.
In 2004 Jeffrey, with his wife, Robin, purchased the Nulton & Mattle Funeral Home, Inc, establishing the Jennings, Nulton & Mattle Funeral Home, Inc., continuing the over 100 year tradition of providing quality and compassionate funeral service in the greater Rochester area.

The Penfield Road building is almost 10,000 square feet and sits on approximately one and one-half acres of land. The building has a spacious entrance hall and two large viewing and service rooms. We have an arrangement conference room, handicapped accessible restrooms and two areas of coat racks to complete the public areas of the main floor.  The arrangement conference area has more of the feel of a dining room in a private home, rather than an office.

The lower level of the building consists of the casket, burial vault and urn selection area, our main office and our extensive library of files, dating back to 1890. If you are working on your genealogy and believe that the Mattle family may have served your family, please feel free to contact us about searching these files.
