Obituary of George William LaDue

G. William LaDue " The Worlds Greatest Architect" of Penfield NY died on November 11, 2010. Bill is survived by his wife of 46 years, Marjorie; three sons, Jeff (Amy), William (Erin) and David (Sheila); grandson, Charlie; brother, Robert (Carolyn); sister-in-law, Karen; several nieces, nephews; his beloved dog, Cleo; many dear friends and musician buddies. Bill was predeceased by his brother, James. Bill has been in private practice as head of his firm, LaDue Architects for more than 34 years. He has served two years as director, three years as Treasurer, two terms as President Elect and two terms as president of the Rochester Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. He also served three years as a Director of the NYS Association of Architects. Bill is also an actor, singer and musician. He has appeared in many local musical theater productions. Profits from these productions go to providing scholarships to high school students who pursue studies in college, in music or the arts. His appearances include Brighton Theater Guilds Guys and Dolls, Music Man, George M, Fiddler on the Roof and 20 years of Broadway; Pittsford Musicals Kismet and Anything Goes; Orcutt-Bottsford School of Dance production, Twas the Night Before Christmas; Penfield Theater Guild's `Broadway Favorites, Broadway Favorites II and Titanic; RAPA's production of Celebrate Broadway II, White Christmas and Crazy for You. He has also performed with Brighton Theatre Guild's Traveling Cabaret. Bill was a member of The Opera Theatre of Rochester performing company and the Rochester Oratorio Society. Bill has appeared in the productions of Il Travatore, Tosca, the Opera Gala, Rochester Philharmonic's Porgy and Bess and A celebration of Cole Porter and the RPO presention of Guys and Dolls. He was also a member of The Opera Factory performing company, Opera Rochester performing company and the Kunde Chorale. Bill has assumed the role of scenic designer for several local productions and he donated his firm's services to help RAPA convert an auto service department into a small theater. Bill can be seen on occasion singing the National Anthem at the Rochester Red Wings baseball games and performing with jazz groups at various venues in the area. Bill was a model in Kodak's 1996 and 1997 Christmas Colorama photograph. Bill is a tenor and studied voice for nine years at Eastman School of Music with baritones Ivan Griffin, Derrick Smith and Tenor Thaxter Cunio. He performed in many recitals and concerts at Eastman from 1990 to 1999. He also studied for four years with internationally acclaimed Tenor, Douglas Ahlstedt. In addition to singing and acting, Bill has played drums for more than 50 years and was a member of a trio that performed in upstate and downstate NY for 23 years. Family and friends may call at Jennings, Nulton & Mattle Funeral Home 1704 Penfield Road, Penfield on Sunday, November 14th from 2:00-5:00pm. Bill's Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, 10:00am at St. Mary's Church, 15 St. Mary's Place, Rochester. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Penfield.
