Obituary of James M. Lill

James M. "Max" Lill, Jr. of Irondequoit passed away June 10, 2010 at age 64. Max is survived by his wife, Jane Marie Barbarita Lill; children, Jim (Tiffany), Jake (Kelly) and Blaine (Jenna) McRae; 5 grandchildren, Jacob, Payton, Emma Kate, Tristan and James; brothers, William T. (Cindy) and Kenneth (Jeanne); sister, Jane (Don) Pressey; several nieces, nephews and dear friends. Max was President of Industrial Furnace Co., Inc. and an Army Vietnam Veteran. He was instrumental in the construction of the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial in Highland Park. Max received the Conspicuous Service Cross with Silver Device, New York State's highest military honor, for action of valor while serving with the First Infantry Division in Vietnam. He served as Chairman of the Board for the Greater Rochester Vietnam Veterans, was on the Board of Directors for Chapter 20 Vietnam Veteran's of America as well as Junior Achievement of Rochester, Inc. He was Vice Chairman of the Combat Infantry Veterans and served on the Executive Board of Directors for the National Combat Infantry Men's Association. He also served as an advisor to the Monroe County Executives for County Veterans Affairs. Max volunteered as a strength coach at both East Rochester and West Irondequoit High Schools. He was a "Mr. New York State" Body Building Champion and served as a mentor to many area youths. Max was most recently honored with the Roger Robach Veteran's Award. Friends are invited to a Funeral Mass for Max, Tuesday 10 AM at St. Margaret Mary's Church, 401 Rogers Pkwy., Irondequoit. Interment will be private.
