He transferred to Morehead State University in Morehead, Kentucky to study Physical Education and earned his Bachelor's degree in 1972. Daryl returned to Kendall after completing studies at Morehead State. He worked at Hamlin Beach State Park in Hamlin, New York and was involved in the ministry of the Kendall United Methodist Church, where he and family attended throughout his childhood. He chose to pursue ordained ministry and enrolled in seminary at Methodist Theological School in Delaware, Ohio. After three years of study he graduated from seminary in 1977 earning a Master of Divinity and, as a member of the Western New York Conference of the United Methodist Church, was appointed to Little Valley United Methodist Church in Little Valley, New York and Napoli Untied Methodist Church in Napoli, New York. He served there until 1982 before being appointed to St. Paul's United Methodist Church in West Valley, New York. While in West Valley, Daryl was introduced to Rachel Hayward of Rochester by friends Paul and Eleanor Robinson while counseling a summer camp at Camp Asbury in Silver Lake, New York. Daryl and Rachel were married on May 7, 1983 at Camp Casowasco in Moravia, New York, where Rachel had attended camp as a child and worked as a young adult. Daryl's best man was Paul Robinson. He was a member of the Lock City Glee Club in Lockport, New York. All three children graduated from Barker Central School. Daryl accepted an appointment to the Penfield United Methodist Church and became its pastor on July 1, 2008. He served there until his death.
