Obituary of Maha Atma Singh Oesterly

Maha Atma Singh Oesterly Penfield: 58 years, April 18, 2009. Devoted Sikh, loving husband, father, grandfather, yoga teacher, master gardener and friend of many, passed on after a 15 month battle with esophageal cancer. He taught us how to face adversity with courage, strength and humor. Predeceased by his parents, Thelma and Gerald Oesterly and sister Lynn. Survived by his wife of 40 years, Maha Atma Kaur (Carolyn Fyke); daughter, Manjit Kaur (Matthew) Haughery; son, Amar Singh; grandsons, Miles and Henry Haughery; brother, Thomas (Aimee); step-mother, Rosemary Oesterly; in-laws, Florence and Clair Fyke and many other family members and close friends. A memorial service will be held at Cornell Cooperative extension of Monroe County, 249 Highland Avenue, Rochester, NY 14620 on Saturday, May 2nd, 2-3 pm, where the family will receive friends immediately following the ceremony until 5:30 pm.
