Obituary of Joanne M McDonald

The family and friends of Joanne McDonald of Webster, New York are saddened to announce her passing on December 12th, 2024 at the age of 73 years.

She was born on June 11th, 1951, to Thomas McDonald and Ruth McDonald (Binney) in Hornell, NY. An alum of Rochester Institute of Technology, she also held a Master of Science degree in Social Work from Syracuse University. She retired from a long career providing care as a social worker, most recently employed at Highland Hospital where she continued working on a per diem basis.

In addition to her parents, Joanne was predeceased by her siblings, Joseph McDonald and Mary Clancy. She will be dearly missed by her loving sister, Elizabeth (the late Gordon) Stewart; nieces, Shannon (Ezra) Jones, Courtney (Michael) Smith, and Cameron (Mitchel) Stewart-Leet; great-nieces, Norah and Natalie and great-nephew, Washington; an aunt and several cousins. Joanne had a number of close and devoted friends and godchildren who also feel this loss.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 17 at the Jennings, Nulton & Mattle Funeral Home in Penfield from 3:30-6:30 PM. A
Funeral Mass is planned for Wednesday, December 18 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Penfield, followed by interment in at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Hornell. The service will be live streamed at https://www.holyspirit-saintjoseph.org/online-ministries
