Obituary of John H Alligood

John H. Alligood died suddenly on November 10th, 2024. 

John was born in Rochester, NY, the son of Horace and Jean Alligood. He grew up in Irondequoit and graduated from West Irondequoit High School. John later graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) with a degree in art.

A product designer for over 25 years at Eastman Kodak, John designed parts for all types of cameras including single-use cameras. He later transitioned to a career in fitness at the Eastside YMCA, earning his certification in personal training and cycle/spinning instruction. John had a passion for fitness and could often be found either running, bike riding, or weight lifting, inspiring others to also maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Aside from his athletic passions, John was a talented artist, woodworker, wine connoisseur, cook and gardener. A world traveler, John loved to explore new destinations and learn about other cultures. An avid reader, John was well informed on world events. 

John was loved not only by his family, but by many dear friends. 

John is survived by his wife, Andrea Nadel; daughter, Kimberly Alligood; sister Susan Funk; nephew, Scott Funk (Caitlin), and beloved cousins. 

A celebration of life for John will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s memory to Planned Parenthood or Lollypop Farm.
