Obituary of John M Travis

John M. Travis, 85, died on August 30, 2024.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Edith Travis, and is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Betty, of Webster, NY; sons, Ken, of Webster, NY, Steve (Lisa) of Hudson, OH; grandchildren, Clayton, Sarah, Katherine and Tyler; and sister, Lorraine Valk, of Poughkeepsie, NY.  

John graduated from Cornell University in 1960 and went on to be a real estate appraiser and consultant for 50 years.  He was a partner of Midland Appraisal from 1975 - 2004 and retired from the business in 2011. He was a member of the Appraisal Institute.  John was president of the Rochester Chapter Society of Real Estate Appraisers 1973 - 1974 and president of NYS Chapter 30 of the Appraisal Institute 1989 - 1990.  

John enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. 

Friends and family are welcome to gather for calling hours on Thursday September 5, from 4 to 6:30pm at Harloff Funeral Home, 803 S. Washington Street, East Rochester with a short service to immediately follow. 

Interment is private.
