I used to joke with John about how he had probably appraised every gas station in Rochester at least 3 times for different oil companies. For many years I would see his name on the reports as the oil company raised or changed our rent based on property value. I never really met him, however everyone in the oil – gas station business new his name like a household word. There came a time that our oil company was withdrawing from the area, and I called John Travis to see what we could expect. WEALTH of information would be an understatement. I cannot tell you how much help he was, when dealing with major oil.. However, we still had not had a face to face meet. Now here is where God puts people together. I lived far away from our gas station on East Ave. and one day we went to homearama Barb & I fell in love with one of the models there and they told us they were building in Penfield we made a deal with the builder and quickly we had a house being built. So one day I am there checking anxiously on our new home. Low and behold this nice man walks over and introduces himself. “ Hi I’m John Travis” ? the John Travis I know? You guessed it We immediately had a great friendship, and he helped us for many years in small business. From then on I would tell people John Travis was my neighbor. Just mentioning his name would perk up ears whenever you were discussing anything to do with real-estate or in my case Small Business. We will miss him for sure. My prayer is when I get to heaven I see him and he finds us a great spot!!!

We fondly remember what a very kind and friendly man that John was when we had the opportunity to visit with him at various of the kids’ celebrations and events throughout the years. His legacy lives on through his beautiful grandchildren. Our prayers for your family.

I am sharing in your sadness as we all remember John. As a new start in Midland Appraisal, he was always willing to help me and share his knowledge, all with a smile. One of the common interests we shared was our love of gardening. I'll never forget the day he brought me a bagful of amaryllis bulbs from his garden. They still bloom a beautiful, deep red in their pots every holiday season and are a reminder of his generosity and kindness.

My sincere condolences to John's family on his passing. He was an accomplished real estate appraiser and always a credit to his profession (of which I was also a part) and to his particular firm. May his family and associates take comfort in the memories of sharing life with a fine citizen.
