Obituary of Eric Robert Franklin

Eric Robert Franklin (24) passed away unexpectedly on October 24, 2023 in Long Beach, CA.

Visitation will be held celebrating Eric’s life at Jennings Nulton & Mattle Funeral Home (1704 Penfield Rd. Penfield, NY 14526) on Friday, December 8^th from 4-7pm. 

Eric was born in Rochester, NY to Daniel R. Franklin and Corinne L. (Briggs) Franklin on April 15, 1999. Eric graduated from Penfield High School with a Board of Regents Advanced Designation with Honors Endorsement and with a Mastery in Mathematics (2017). Eric played soccer for over 10 years, both; for the Penfield Rangers travel team and for the Penfield High School team. Eric played baseball and was a member of the Penfield High school track team where he did the hurdles, the high jump and sprint relays.

After graduating from Penfield High School, Eric attended Chapman University in Orange, CA. He was a member of the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity. In 2022 Eric graduated from Chapman University earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics.

Eric was a Project Manager for Pacific Sound Control (PSC) in Anaheim, CA. With a desire to learn more about the construction industry, Eric enrolled in and completed courses in Construction Management at California State University Fullerton.

Throughout his short life, Eric found joy in many things. Eric enjoyed looking through antiques in search of something special, including old books. Eric loved the Adirondack Mountains where he enjoyed hiking, kayaking, swimming and sitting around campfires. Eric had a fascination with movies and with every aspect of the film industry.  Eric studied screenwriting and he wrote many creative movie scripts. And, Eric had an appreciation for many different genre of music. Eric found his greatest joy in life being with friends and being a friend. He was loved by many and he will be leaving a gaping hole in many hearts.

Eric is survived by his father: Daniel R. Franklin of Irondequoit NY; his mother: Corinne L. (Briggs) Franklin of Penfield NY; his sister: Lauren O. Franklin of Penfield NY; his grandmother: Rose M. (Merz) Franklin of Irondequoit NY;  his grandparents: Donald G. and Carolyn E. (Morgan) Briggs of Weston, NY; his cat: Freddy;  cousins, aunts, uncles, and many friends. Eric was predeceased by his grandfather: Robert D. Franklin, Irondequoit NY.
