Obituary of Iva H. Ester

Iva H. Ester, 77, of Fairport, NY, passed away on Monday, April 17^th, 2023 peacefully in her home.

Iva was born in Vellich, Austria to Franc and Albina Grum on November 9^th, 1945. She and her family emigrated to the United States at an early age. She went to high school at Nazareth Academy in Rochester, NY. She went on to earn a degree in education from Nazareth College in Rochester, NY. She worked several jobs throughout her career, including time spent as an educator, in politics, as a paralegal at Underberg & Kessler law firm, and in banking at Fleet Bank and JPMorgan Chase Bank from where she eventually retired as a Vice President. She enjoyed traveling, knitting, and spending time with her friends and family.

Iva is survived by her two sons, Edward (Valerie) Ester and Jonathan (Colleen) Ester, her sisters, Mary Ann (Tony) Mrva and Peg (Jim) Bodine, two grandchildren Lillian and Joshua Ester, and four nieces and nephews: Tanya Valency, Kim Morey, Michael Bodine, and Jennifer Blackman. She is preceded in death by her parents, Franc and Albina Grum.

Calling hours will be held at Jennings Nulton & Mattle Funeral Home, 1704 Penfield Road, Penfield,  on Sunday, April 23^rd, 2023 from 1pm to 4pm. Funeral service will be held at St. Joseph’s Church, 43 Gebhardt Rd., Penfield, NY 14526 on Monday, April 24^th, 2023 at 11am. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 2461 Lake Ave., Rochester, NY 14612.
