To the Randall family-
We have all lost a treasure! In 1978, Sally first brought unique kindness, wisdom, and humor to my Penfield experience. Those positive attributes enriched all who met her.
Students and colleagues felt lucky to experience her teaching expertise in the classroom, and her many kindnesses were evident to all. Sally loved teaching and brought the best to her students and the Penfield community. She was so generous and hardworking that I can't imagine any Penfield activity without her.
I will always remember our trip to England and all the fun we had. When I was sad, Sally listened. When I was laughing, Sally was usually the culprit.
Sally was one of the best women I have ever known, and she will always have a big piece of my heart. I loved her dearly. I will miss my friend.
With love - Jan Uffner

Sally was a dear, dear friend; I have known Sally for over 50 years, but, oddly enough, neither of us could really remember how we first met. We were both teachers at Penfield Central Schools; we were pregnant for our first children at the same time; we both had boys within three weeks of one another and those boys have also been lifelong friends; we visited each others' homes once we moved to NC; we traveled together as families; we shared endless great conversations often with outrageous laughter, sometimes with tears, and we trusted each other with some of our best-kept secrets and concerns. But an over-riding memory of Sally is her family of friends. Those friends were Sally's lifeline. She was so generous to her friends, and, they, in kind, gave endless support to her. I remember one occasion not too many years ago, when I was visiting Sally, Talk about having great conversations! We rolled out of bed and still in our pjs we began a conversation that lasted all day long, until finally around 4 p.m. we were forced to get dressed because another friend was coming over. That is just one example of some of the very best times with Sally--she was a great listener, always had insight into a situation that I could not fathom, and loved her family beyond reproach. She was able to do it all--be a superb English teacher, made sure her children were always taken care of, kept a home going by herself while her husband traveled, and found time to spend with friends. Sally leaves a huge hole in my heart, and I will never have another friend like her; but I am happy that she is free of pain. Will always miss you, Sally. Love, Donna

Please accept my deepest condolences for Sally’s passing. It was a joy to watch her teach at Bay Trail Middle School. The students who encountered her teaching ability were very lucky to have her. May she rest in peace. Warmly, Mary Ann Harrigan

Sally was my friend and colleague for over 60 years during which we shared adventures (a houseboat trip up the Rideau Canal; a memorable stay at an Adirondack dude ranch!)) and challenges in the form of unique students. I, and others, regarded Sally as the consummate story teller. Her encounters with students in particular and adults alike became fodder for her stories, evoking genuine laughter , even in the retelling decades later. I will miss this caring, creative, intelligent woman, but my memories of her will be forever in my heart. Rest in peace, Sally. Pat VanKouwenberg
