Obituary of Steven M. Webster

Steven Michael Webster was born in Ithaca, NY on September 21, 1943 and passed away on January 7, 2023 in his home in Fairport, NY. He is predeceased by his parents Robert and Alice Webster; brother, Lindsley Webster. Steve is survived by his partner of 25 years, Sue Willer; daughters, Kerry McElwee and Erin Burke-Webster (Trevor Mack); grandson, Casey McElwee; siblings, Richard (Barbara) Webster, and Sue (John) Talbott; beloved dog, Abby; dear friend, Chuck Ciraolo; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends and family.

Steve was a loving brother, uncle and partner, nurturing father, Papa, and a friend to many. He had a youthful spirit, heart of gold and a “gift of gab”. Steve had a great laugh and a friendly curiosity about others; he seemed most at peace chatting it up with a buddy, new or old, over a sports game and a beer. He enjoyed listening to comedy, classical piano concertos, reading, playing cards & cribbage, and gardening; he was a natural athlete with a passion for baseball, tennis and golf. Steve worked as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a golf and tennis coach, bus driver, caregiver, and more; each endeavor allowed his big personality to shine through with little acts of kindness. He was an animal lover, especially his golden retrievers Molly and Abby. Steve loved his family and always made an effort to listen and support them with a soothing hug and encouraging advice. He will be missed dearly, but his love and spirit live on through so many people that he touched.
