As the father of my best friend since birth, Steve was a big fixture in my childhood. He always welcomed me into his home and let me stay to play with Erin all hours of the day and night! I have so many great memories of him growing up that I will always cherish. I'll especially remember how kind he was to everyone, and how anywhere he went, he could strike up a friendly conversation with people, whether the server at a restaurant or cashier at a grocery store. I will miss him greatly.

In my youth, a highlight of each year was the annual family trip, by car, from our home in Indiana to Ithaca for a week or so "at Grandma and Grandpa Websters'" house on White Park Place.
And as soon as we checked in with Grandma to get some of her incredible molasses cookies and a glass of cold milk laced with real cream, it was out the door, down the hill and visits with Uncle Bob, Aunt Alice and their brood, especially Steve, who as the youngest, was most often home when we visited. Their house featured a window seat with a lift-up lid and it always contained Steve's baseball and other athletic gear that we would haul out and take into the front yard to play.
Steve was always "part of the gang" when we visited, and through him and Uncle Bob's side of the family, we were exposed to new and wondrous things: Pogo, Tom Lehrer, the family's love of good writing and their competitive devotion to word and card games.
I remember sleep-overs with Steve and the penchant of Ithaca Websters to leave the bedroom windows open, even in the dead of winter. That meant sleeping with enough blankets on you to impede your ability to roll over, but how soundly you slept as a result.
The extended Webster clan has always made a point of "keeping in touch" including a series of gatherings in Ithaca (twice) and West Virginia among others. We mourn the loss of Steve, and then within just days, his brother Dick, but we treasure the memories and the fact that they were part of our lives and our family.

Steve was a wonderful man. A great caregiver to mom and dad Willer. From the first day I met him it was like I have known him for years. I miss our dinners with you both. He had a great sense of humor. I'm sure Steve and dad will have a great time together. He will forever be in my heart and prayers.

For the last 35 years, Steve always greeted me with a genuine smile, a hug and listened as well as he told stories. Since I was a little girl, I knew he was someone that loved his daughters, life, sports and good company. He will forever live within all that knew him and we are sending love to all that love him and were lucky enough to have him in their lives.
