Obituary of Gerry Meadows

Gerry R. Meadows, of Penfield, NY, passed away at Miller’s Merry Manor in Warsaw, Indiana on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, while visiting family, at the age of 87.

Born in New Jersey on June 7, 1935, he was the son of Eugene and Clara Meadows. On July 11, 1959, he married the love of his life Linda (Brown) and together they spent nearly 62 years before her passing in February of 2021. They resided in Penfield for over 50 years. Gerry worked as an engineer and manager for a manufacturing company for many years.

Gerry was an active member of Penfield Wesleyan Church, leading and supporting many ministries throughout the years. He and Linda worked together leading Marriage Encounter weekends and were fortunate to travel the world in this position. They were involved in this ministry for 20 years and were great examples of what God intended marriage to be. Linda was involved in a local Community Bible Study class and Gerry assisted in videotaping different things for the class.  He eventually started an evening couples’ class and faithfully served as teaching director for 19 years. Gerry loved being around people. He always took time and enjoyed getting to know a person’s story. Gerry was a passionate sailor and enjoyed sailing the area lakes. He also enjoyed golfing and tending his garden.

Gerry was a dedicated servant of our lord Jesus Christ and will be dearly missed by all.

Those who survive with his memories to cherish include his children, Mark (Lisa), John (Elaine), Tom (Jill) and Karen (Thom) Vandenberg; nine grandchildren, Melissa (Robert) Abbey, Michael, Elizabeth, Thomas, Madeline, James, Garrett, Matthew, and Emily; and two great grandchildren, Brielynn and Braiden. He is further survived by many extended family member and friends. 

A private burial will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Penfield. A celebration of life memorial ceremony will take place on September 24^th at 10:00 am at Penfield Wesleyan Church, 1580 Five Mile Line Rd, Penfield, NY 14526, all are welcomed.
