Ms.Simmonds was an amazing teacher. She was so loving and extremely helpful. She's the reason why I got into college. Something I didn't think was possible. But she believed in all of her students. I still don't want to believe that she's gone. She was a beautiful soul and I hope she rests in peace. I will miss her dearly.

I am Jaquael Chapman a student of Ms. Simmonds I will miss her very much she always made me feel comfortable in her classroom she made me laugh a lot I will never forget the black cat or the name Edward Allan Poe she instilled it my brain I remember she used to let me hide in her classroom and hold her stuffed animal when I felt upset she did a lot for me and I will never forget it she is still in all of our hearts.

My condolences to Marisa's family, I had the distinct privilege and pleasure of teaching with Marisa at Young Mothers for over a decade. She was a wonderful teacher but more importantly, a great friend to me. I will deeply miss her.
