Enjoyed meeting and visiting with Paul at many ride openings and IAAPA Expos spanning 20 years. Though we were only briefly introduced, months later when he spotted me he remembered details from our first conversation as though we had recently spoken. His encyclopedic knowledge of rides and park history impressed me as did his persistence for the end-of-Expo wrap-up press release so he could make his print deadlines, and I came away from each exchange having learned something new from Paul. We shared many jokes including groaners and crass sendups, but mostly puns others would rather we punted. Glad to know him ... Paul is and will be missed by so many.

What a wonderful man was Paul. Quick witted. Bad jokes, Dad jokes. The photo in his wallet of his Pride & Joy (detergents, of course). A wealth of knowledge, some useful some not. Favorite times for me were the trips with Paul and Pilot Bob to Kennywood, Idlewild, Cedar Point, La Ronde, Riverside, Canobie Lake. I learned a lot from those trips, and had a ton of fun. Thanks for taking photos, for the stories, sharing the wisdom and the humor. And the smile – it was as wide as ever when he visited the park last month to pick up his 2021 Employee ID card. RIP my friend, grab some negative Gs on the way up. And Peace to you, Cherie and Joel and the family.

As a fellow theme park journalist, I would often encounter Paul at park openings, ride debuts, and other events. It was always great catching up with him and sharing the latest industry news. I will miss our meetups. My condolences to his family. It's clear that he loved what he did. And I know that he ascribed to my motto: Life's too short. Enjoy the ride.

To the family of Paul Lewis Ruben, Paul was a “fixture” in the amusement industry just like a roller coaster is to an amusement park. I remember meeting Paul shortly after joining Arrow Dynamics. We would continue our friendship for the next 30 years. Paul was the consummate professional always looking for a good story about the ever changing industry he loved. His name will be memorialized through the many stories he wrote about new attractions, especially his love for roller coasters. He always had that childish grin and greeted you like you hadn’t seen him for years. Enjoy the ride, Paul!! Larry Hays

Mr Reuben came to speak on roller coasters twice during my five years as a Cub Scout leader. The boys loved him as well as family members who crowded in to witness his fun presentation. I had no idea that he was such an accomplished scientist. What a brilliant human being. My condolences to his family Sincerely, Janice Smith. Webster NY.
