A real treasure to know. Bob brought to life so many interesting little things about his time with the 13th Armored Division and various stories about his life in such an entertaining way. Bob was a kind soul and will be missed dearly.

Will be missed by the 13th Armored Reunion Group. Very nice gentlemen who worked with dedication for the organization.
Rest in Peace and blessed thoughts for Bob's family.

One of the most special people I've ever known. And even though we only knew each ofher for a few years through the 13th Armored Division reunions, he became like a dad to my sister and me. We lovingly called him "New Dad" after our own dad "went to Glory". Blessed to have known him and his beautiful family. We consider ourselves one big family now. Just happen to live all over the country ! Love you guys !!

I was so sorry to hear of the passing of this lovely man - never without a smile on his face, always looking for the best in mankind. He was so in love with his beautiful Jean, and together they blessed any room they were in. A true loss!

I am so sorry to read about the passing of your father. It is particularly hard to lose a parent no matter their age or circumstance. I have many fond memories of your parents, they always made me feel welcome. My deepest condolences. ~Katie Maley

Bob never took a day of life for granted. I knew him through our shared Osher classes. His last series of memoirs was about how a series of life's events can result in miracles.
Bob was the miracle in our class. We shall miss the twinkle in his eyes, his stories, and his wise advice.

What a wonderful couple, so much fun seeing you at the antique shows. I still have the pins I bought from you. I always enjoyed going to the Genesee show, just to see you two. It seemed Bob always had a joke. I was so happy to have known you guys, such a pleasure. Ray passed March 16th of this year complications of the kidney disease. Oh, I turned 80 this year, wow, how did that happen, time flies when you're having fun! I hope you and your family are doing well, as you have many memories and wonderful friends. Love you Bonnie

Cheers to this great man, warrior, and best friend, Bob Whelan. He not only dramatically changed my life for the better, but saved it. Bob was my confidant as we shared our lives together through writing, extensive travel, a few Irish beers, music, laughter and love.
We shared a phrase when things got rough; "At least we're not getting shot at again!" That seemed to pur everything in perspective. It could always be worse. I am grateful to Bob's family for welcoming me into their family in so many ways. I will forever cherish his memory as one of the most incredible people I've ever met. Godspeed my brother. I love you.

During our writers' retreat last August at Chuck and Evelyn Willard's home out in Rush, Bob almost seemed to be holding court, sitting there on the porch in a rocking chair and attentively listening to the other writers in the group reading from their works. He always had a word of encouragement after each writer finished, and when it was his turn, he always touched our hearts with his wit, wisdom, and confident charm.
In our final salute to you, we thank you for your friendship and will always hold you close.
