Obituary of Richard Howard Phillips
Richard Howard Phillips of Ontario, NY, formerly of Jamestown, NY passed away on January 2, 2020 at age 72 after a short battle with leukemia. He was predeceased by his parents, Howard J. and Dorothy J. (Steiger) Phillips; sister, Bonnie L. (Phillips) Bell. Dick is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sharon; stepson, Matthew (Ann) Puccio; son, Simon Phillips; granddaughters, Isabella and Giuliana Puccio; siblings, Paul (JoEllen) Phillips, Cheryl (Arnie) Koch and Jed Phillips; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Born in Olean, NY and raised in Jamestown, NY, he graduated from Jamestown High School and SUNY Geneseo. Dick served in the 25th Infantry Division in Vietnam and stateside from 1967-1970. Dick's loves were his faith, family and friends. In past years he enjoyed sailing on Lake Ontario and anything to do with cars, particularly his annual trip to the Vintage Races at Watkins Glen. Dick was a former SCCA Member and he was active in many church ministries.
No prior calling. Friends are invited to Dick's Memorial Service Saturday February 8th, 11 AM at Faith Lutheran Church, 2876 Browncroft Blvd., Rochester, NY 14625. Private interment in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Jamestown, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dick's memory may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, Missions Ministry or the Wilmot Cancer Center.
