Obituary of Lee Bruce Starr

Lee passed away surrounded by his family on September 18, 2019.  Lee was born in NYC to Saul and Esther Starr on September 30, 1961.  Lee was predeceased by his mother, Esther; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Patricia McFall.  Lee is survived by his wife, Laura McFall; their children, Sam and Mary; daughter-in-law Alexa (Stannard) Starr; grandson, Parker Lee; father, Saul; brother and sister-in-law, Jay and Barbara Starr; brother-in-law, John McFall; sister-in-law and brother-in law Carrie (McFall) and David Weaver; nephews Michael and Alex Starr, Owen Weaver; niece Katie Weaver. 

After graduating from Cardozo High School in Bayside, Queens in 1979 Lee attended SUNY Brockport and graduated in 1983.  At Brockport Lee was active with the college radio station, WBSU.  Lee stayed in the Rochester area and made it his home and eventually settled in Penfield where he and Laura built a beautiful life for the past 22 years.  Lee worked for WUHF-Channel 31- Fox Rochester for 23 years in the operations department.  As a talented musician Lee was active with local bands playing in the AC/DC tribute bands High Voltage and Bonfire. 

Calling hours will be held at The Church of the Incarnation, 1957 Five Mile Line Rd., Penfield on Thursday, September 26th from 4-8pm.  There will be a memorial service on Friday, September 27th at the Ingle Auditorium in the RIT Student Alumni Union (SAU) at 3:30pm.  Parking is available at RIT in Lots G and H, click here for campus map.

Donations can be made in Lee’s memory to the Thompson Foundation-Pulmonary Wellness Program, c/o Thomson Health, 350 Parrish St., Canandaigua, NY 14424.  Lee worked out twice a week at the Thompson Pulmonary Wellness Center where he quickly made many friends and left a lasting impact.
