Vera S. Powley of Rochester passed away March 27, 2019 at age 96. She was predeceased by her husband Wilbur N. Powley, a dear granddaughter Sandy Powley-Sams, parents M. Harold and Ruth A. (Nelson) Stevens, two brothers Richard and Robert Stevens.
Vera is survived by 6 sons; Craig (Nancy), Scott (Ric Fox), Mark (Pam), Dean (Liz), Todd (Ann), Blair (Mary Beth), 1 daughter Mary-Ruth (Bill Heckman), many “favorite” grandchildren, many “exceptional” great grandchildren, 1 brother Gerald (Eileen) Stevens and her companions Tula and Shadow, the cats.
She was a lifetime member of Central Presbyterian Church and then the Downtown United Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon and an elder on the Session. She loved her church, her family, the outdoors, thunderstorms and especially viewing the stars, planets and moon. None of us will ever look to the night sky and not think of Mom. In keeping with family tradition, Vera donated her body to the Anatomical Gift Program at Strong Memorial Hospital.
No prior calling. Vera’s Memorial Service will be held Saturday April 13th 11 AM at Downtown United Presbyterian Church, 121 N. Fitzhugh Street.
