There is a picture in my phone of Tommy at a recent car show draped across the fender of a pristine 1970 Chevelle SS like a Price Is Right showgirl, not because he ever had any appreciation whatsoever for vintage American muscle cars, but because he understood it was Uncle Mark's favorite. That's how Tommy connected.
Now whenever I see a Chevelle I'll always think of Tommy.

To the Family of Tommy: I read of the loss of your dear loved one. I would like to share with you, something that I have personally found to be very comforting. It is found in the Bible, at John 5:25-29 and Revelation 21:4,5. These verses tell us that soon Our Creator (Psalm 83:18) is going to bring about a resurrection of our loved ones that are sleeping in death; as well as do away with all causes of suffering, sickness, and even death! Knowing of Our Creator's promises has brought me much comfort during times of loss; and it is my hope that these promises will bring a measure of comfort to your family during this very difficult time. I respectfully ask that you please accept my heartfelt condolences.

I pray for peace, comfort and the remembrance of the loving memories he has given to all!

Dear Murphy Family,
I wanted to express my deepest sympathy. I am Tommy's Career Services Adviser at RIT and while I didn't know him well, I had met with him several times this fall. He was such a sweet boy and there are no words I can say that will ease your pain but just know that for the short time that we had him at RIT, he made a very positive impact.
We are all thinking of you at this time.
Take care,
Sarah Burke and the RIT Family

Our hearts ache with you.
"What is it to cease breathing, but to free the breath from its restless tides, that it may rise and expand and seek God unencumbered?
Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing.
And when you have reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb.
And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance." - K. Gibran
Peace and solace to everyone.

Alison, Tom, Jack & Emily -We are so sad for your loss. Faith, prayers, and love will help you treasure your memories. The following poem has helped me heal. God Bless
God’s Lent Child
"I'll lend you for a little while
A child of mine" God said -
For you to love the while he lives
and mourn for when he's dead.
It may be six or seven years
or forty two or three
but will you, till I call him back,
take care of him for me?
He'll bring his charms to gladden you
and, should his stay be brief,
you'll have his nicest memories
as solace for his grief.
I cannot promise he will stay,
since all from earth return
but, there are lessons taught below,
I want this child to learn.
I've looked the whole world over,
in my search for teachers true,
and from the things that crowd life's lane
I have chosen you.
Now will you give him all your love,
nor think the labour vain,
nor hate me when I come to take
this lent child back again?
I fancied that I heard them say,
"Dear Lord Thy Will Be Done"
for all the joys thy child will bring
the risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter him with tenderness,
we'll love him while we may,
and for the happiness we've known
forever grateful stay.
But, should thy Angels call for him
much sooner than we planned,
we'll brave the grief that comes
and try to understand.

I loved working with Tommy at Wickham Farms, we always would chat about school and how things were going. Tommy loved telling me about the classes he was taking and how into them he was. Over the last day, I keep catching myself forgetting what happened, seeing things and thinking that I'll show them to him next time I'm home. Its hard to imagine what it will be like visiting home, and not seeing him.
Tommy was one of the first close friends I ever made, definitely the first lifelong friend. Even after I moved away to attend college in a different state, I could always message him whenever I wanted to talk or catch up or had something eating at me. And every time I was home, we always planned a big occasion to get together.
Tommy was many things. A great guy, a better friend, even, to some, a natural leader. He was bright, humorful, fun to be around. He also embodied rarer qualities - he was caring, and above all, responsible. The impact he made on my life can never be replaced.
My heart goes out to his family and his fellow friends. I can't help but wish I'd known, last time I saw him, that it would be last time. I wish I could see him again, even just for a minute, knowing that it was the final chance I'd get to say goodbye.
So... Goodbye, Tommy, and thanks. For everything.

Tommy was an incredible person that many knew to be loving, caring, and joyful. His smile had the ability to brighten up anybody’s day, and he always brought himself to help the people around him. We will never forget the person he was, the hope he brought us, and the moments we cherish. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of this wonderful young man. Rest in Peace.

Tommy was a great guy. He was always cheerful, laughing, and making jokes. I remember meeting Tommy when I joined the robotics team. He was a bundle of laughs and bright energy, mixed with a little bit of dark humor, but that was Tommy.
In high school, we formed a circle of friends. They're my go to group whenever I want to do anything. I wish I was able to hang out with them more and I know it won't be the same without him.
He was one of my best friends from back home and it's so strange just to even think that he's gone.
Thank you Tommy for everything. The laughs, the real talks, and most importantly, your friendship. You'll be missed dearly
