Obituary of James Michael Helms

J. Michael Helms of Penfield, formerly of Cortland passed away October 30, 2016 at age 73. Mike is survived by his loving wife, Shirley; daughters, Heather (Dino) Pustalka of Penfield, Lisa Helms of Dryden; sons, Tony of Ithaca and Peter Helms of Muskegon, MI; grandchildren, Jordan Helms, Zackary, Jacob and Michael Pustalka, Adrianna, Ashley, Anthony, Mason, Kylie, Lyra and Eli Helms; brother, John Helms; sisters, Sharon Gay, Kristin (Chic) Wilson, Mary Jo (Angela) Helms, Rosemary (Steve) Malchak; brothers and sisters-in-law, Donna Helms, Charlotte (Jean) Ellsworth, and Douglas (Shirley) Burnham, Steve Burnham; several nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren. Predeceased by parents, Jack and Betty Helms; mother and father-in-law, Francis and Betty Burnham; son, Chad Helms; brothers, Mark and Patrick Helms; sister, Kelly Williams; nephew, Patrick Gay; brother-in-law, Walter Gay; sister-in-law, Marsha Stevens. The things that meant most to Mike include his faith, family, friends, his country, fishing and sports. Friends may call at Jennings, Nulton & Mattle Funeral Home, 1704 Penfield Road, Friday 4-8 PM. Mike's Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday 1 PM at St. Joseph's Church, 43 Gebhardt Road, Penfield. Interment private. Memorials in Mike's memory may be made to Lifetime Care Hospice in Rochester.
