Our heartfelt sympathy to both the Shortino and VanPatten families. A very great tragedy to lose these two special people. We became friends in 1966 when we all attended Alfred State College. Sharon was my roommate. I was in their wedding in 1968. We stayed in touch and remained friends for the next almost 50 years. Enjoyed many good times with them over the years. They will always be a part of us and remain in our hearts forever.

Mark, Mike, Matt and families, We are so sorry for the loss of your parents and grandparents in such a tragic and unexpected way. There are no words that can make anything better...Paul and I will be forever grateful for the gift of your Dad in our lives. There are no words ... What Ray and Sharon meant to us is so hard to describe. I first met sweet Sharon back in the Nixon, Hargrave days when we instantly became fast friends. Ray got me really involved in politics with fundraising which actually set the course for the rest of my professional political life. We always had endless political conversations. Together we have gotten together regularly for the past 35 years. We vacationed together (remember Sport Island in the Thousand Islands where the coin inexplicably spun on the end table?) Ray was on Greg's Board of Directors for Williamson Law Book Company. I will carry them in my heart and think of them with loving memories for always. They absolutely always spoke with love and pride of their three sons, their wives and their beloved grandchildren. This loss is to everyone that crossed their path, but most of all to you. So very sorry.

What a blessing it is to have known Ray & Sharon. I so struggle in pain trying to figure out why they had to leave when they made the world such a better place. Ray always said there is so much we humans will never understand about life and God so don’t spend to much time and energy trying to figure out the whys as they are so far beyond our comprehension, just have faith.
