Obituary of Ruth G. Barrett

Ruth G. Barrett of Penfield passed away July 8, 2012 at age 90. Ruth is survived by her husband of 66 years, Franklyn L. Barrett; 2 sons and their wives, John F. Barrett (Mary Anne) of Pinehurst, NC and Richard K. Barrett (Anne) of Penfield; 2 grandchildren, Jason Barrett of Greenbelt, MD and Meghan Barrett of Penfield; sister, Norma G. Hughes of New York Mills, NY; niece, Debra Hughes of Albany, NY. Ruth was born December 5, 1921 in Utica, NY and lived most of her life in Chadwicks, NY, where she was a homemaker and worked at Oneida National Bank. She retired to Bartow, FL for 18 years before moving to Penfield in 2002. Ruth loved to sew, quilt, cross-stitch, paint and play cards. She organized and led the sewing group that made over 11,000 dolls and bears for the children in the Emergency and Oncology Departments at Strong Memorial Hospital. A Memorial Service and Reception will be held at Penfield United Methodist Church, 1795 Baird Road, Penfield, Friday, July 13th at 2 PM.
