Obituary of Marjorie Ann Burch

Marjorie Kramer Burch of Penfield passed away April 26, 2013 at age 84. The daughter of Mary and John Kramer, she grew up in Kenmore, NY. She always kept in touch with her childhood friends and regularly attended her high school reunions. She attended Cazenovia College, graduating in 1948. Marge was married to the late Leonard M. Burch, Jr. “Joe” with whom she shared 31 years of marriage. Together they enjoyed playing bridge, skiing, golf, sailing and spending time at their cottage in the Thousand Islands, Canada. With her husband, she was a founding member of the Penfield Presbyterian Church. They enjoyed their early years of marriage on Hilltop Drive in Penfield where the gained many lifelong friends. In 1970 the moved to Clifton Park, NY. At the age of 50, Marge returned to college, earning her Associate’s Degree in Dietetics from Maria College in Albany, NY. Marge and Joe always missed Rochester and returned to live in the area in 1980. She had a fulfilling career working as a dietician for the Visiting Nurse Association of Rochester for 13 years. Marge was most passionate about the game of bridge and played in several bridge clubs around Rochester. She loved to read and passed that love on to both of her daughters. She also enjoyed cooking, the outdoors, gardening, and traveling. Marge is survived by her two daughters, Susan Pinto of Kinderhook, NY and Pamela Burch and her husband, David Ives of West Newbury, MA; three grandchildren, Josie Pinto, Graham and Spencer Ives. She is also survived by two nieces, Laurel Topper and Chris Kramer and a nephew, Michael Farmer. A celebration of Marge’s life will be held on Saturday, May 11th at 2:00 pm at the Penfield Presbyterian Church, 1881 Jackson Road. In lieu of flowers, please call a friend, help a neighbor, or do a good deed in the memory of Marge’s caring spirit. The family would like to thank the VNS Hospice at St. Ann’s for all of their efforts during her final months.
