Obituary of Charles David Moose

Charles D. Moose, 81, of Pittsford, peacefully passed away Saturday night November 19, 2011 at his home. Born September 22, 1930, he was the son of the late Reuben and Charlotte (Fox) Moose of Curwensville, PA. Mr. Moose was valedictorian of his senior high school class, attended Juniata Junior College and graduated from Penn State University. Charles served in the US Air Force from 1951-1955, during the Korean War. Charles married his wife of 56 years, Fay Patterson, and moved to Rochester, NY with her to begin his 36 year career with Eastman Kodak Company. Upon retiring, he volunteered for Meals on Wheels, The War Plane Museum in Geneseo and the Red Cross. He enjoyed history, traveling, ushering at Browncroft Community Church and spending time with his grandchildren, especially watching their sporting events. Many will remember his presence in the bleachers at baseball games. Mr. Moose was very proud of his family. A highlight of his life was a trip to Normandy, France with his daughter's family to tour the D-Day landing site, battlefields and historic sites. He is survived by his wife, Fay; his daughter Jody and her husband Bryan van Dussen of Marblehead, MA; his son Scott and his wife Christine of Victor, NY; six grandchildren, Blake and Maddy van Dussen, and Katie, Jenny, Jacob and Lauren Moose; two nieces and a nephew. His brother R. Joseph Moose predeceased him in 2010. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 2011, at Browncroft Community Church, 2530 Browncroft Boulevard, Rochester, NY 14625. Burial will be private. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
