Obituary of Joan W. Poore

Joan W. Poore of Penfield went home to our Lord, November 1, 2011 at age 78 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her husband, David and son, Thomas. She was dearly loved by her children, Kathleen, James (MaryAnn), Mark, Patti Ann Poore (Daniel Streff); grandchildren, Matthew (Jennifer) Melnyk, Shayna (Heather) Cross, Jennifer (Rob) Bentley, Michael Poore (Jessica Santo), David, Daniel and Krista Poore; sister, Linda (Glenn) Lashley; niece, nephews and their families. Joan loved her family and her church. She spent many years as a homemaker and returned to work when she was 36, retiring from Chase Bank in 1994 as a Vice President. She was one of the founders of Shepherd Home in Penfield and served as treasurer and volunteered with patient care. Joan was Eucharistic Adoration Coordinator at Holy Spirit Church in Penfield, where she was an active member. She leaves a wealth of friends there. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Williams and the many compassionate, caring nurses and staff at the Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center in Greece for their wonderful care of Joan. Joan's Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday 10:30 AM at Holy Spirit Church, 1355 Hatch Road at Plank.
