Obituary of Marion R. Hitchings
Marion Hitchings (nee Ryan) of Pittsford, formerly of Penfield died peacefully on March 29, 2013 at the Highlands Living Center in Pittsford. She was born on October 24, 1925 in Syracuse, NY to the late Charles and Helen Ryan. Marion graduated from Goucher College in Towson, Maryland in 1948. On August 12, 1950 she married the love of her life, Donald Hitchings. Marion and Don raised their family in Penfield and San Francisco while Don pursued his career with Eastman Kodak. Marion was a homemaker who spent her time with volunteer activities such as AAUW and P.E.O. Chapter AC and the Century Club. Marion was a member of Asbury First United Methodist Church. She loved to travel, play bridge and spend time with family and friends.
Marion is survived by her husband of 62 years, Donald; son, Charles of Webster, NY; daughter, Deborah (Brian) Bodager of Green Bay, WI and son, David (Beth) Hitchings of Reston, VA. She is survived by grandsons, Dr. Brandon Bodager, Jonathan Bodager, Thomas Hitchings and James Hitchings. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Lauren Bodager. She will be sadly missed by family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be planned at a later date and family and friends will be notified. A special thanks goes out to the staff at the Highlands Living Center for providing wonderful care for Marion for the last years of her life.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established at the Highlands Living Center, 500 Hahnemann Trail, Pittsford, NY 14534.
