Obituary of Louis A. Carapella

Louis Carapella, ScD of Penfield passed away on February 10, 2013. Dr. Carapella was born in Tuckahoe, NY and is the son of the late Grace and Sam Carapella. He was predeceased by his wife, Claire Littlefield Carapella; brothers, Sam, Vito and Carmen of Tuckahoe. Dr. Carapella is survived by his sister, Angela Carapella of Tuckahoe; son, Robert L. (Laurie) Carapella of Lima, NY; daughter, Jane C. (Richard) Miller of Conway, SC; grandchildren, Christopher (Anne) Miller of West Lake Village, CA, Julie Miller of San Diego, CA, Justin (Sonya) Foster of Greece, NY and Brandy (Jeremy) Litteer of Livonia, NY; great-grandchildren, Claire, Charlie and Max Miller, Ayla and Madeline Foster, Teagan and Gabriella Litteer. Dr. Carapella graduated from Michigan State University, MIT and Harvard. He made a significant contribution tint he early days of nuclear energy which included the Nautilus Project. He was a daily communicant at St. Joseph’s Church for over 40 years. Louis was an avid golfer. Friends are invited to call at Jennings, Nulton & Mattle Funeral Home, 1704 Penfield Road, Friday 7-9 PM. Dr. Carapella’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday 10 AM at St. Joseph’s Church, 43 Gebhardt Road, Penfield. Interment, Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Dr. Carapella’s name.
