I was deeply saddened to receive the news of the death of a dear teacher and wonderful friend, Doris Peck.
My grandchildren, Isabella and Bridget, and I visited Doris last summer while in the Rochester area. We were so happy to see her and spend quilty time together.
For the benefit of her family, a little history lesson. Doris was my teacher at Webster High School 1949 -1952. 1967 my husband and I were looking for a home in Penfield. We bought 30 Hillcrest Drive and later learned the house was built by Elmer and Doris. We lived there very happily for 32 years. Doris and Elmer visited us and were as surprised as we were of the coincidence. Our deepest sympathy to her family, especially her niece in Australia whom she spoke of so fondly. With a heavy heart, Sheila Volpe

Doris and I were roommates at Keuka College, Strong Hall, for three years. In 1944 Elmer and Doris were attendants at Dick's and my wedding in Odessa, New York. I think of her fondly and will remember our good times.

Thank you to everyone who posted kind words and memories of my Aunt. They are a comfort to the neice who followed her God-parents into the profession of educating young minds. While I have spent my adult life half-way around the world, I have not forgotten the values and experiences learned during my summer vacations in Penfield.

To Doris' Family, I was surprised and saddened to hear about Doris. She has been my Mom's (Katharine Tucker Zarik) best friend at The Legacy at Willow Pond, having known her for 56 years.
A while back, I had to chuckle at the two of them after we suggested Mom (age 93)shouldn't be driving Doris to the doctor anymore.....Doris and Mom were seen scooting surreptitiously through The Legacy kitchen and out the back door toward the garages (like sneaky kids) and giving Mom's aide a short, non-answer as to where they were going! Who woulda thunk it!!!
I last saw Doris in the dining hall on Feb. 2nd. She was bright, chipper and talkative. I remember her showing me her collection of hand-decorated eggs on a tiny Christmas tree; she said she made them on nights when Elmer was out to all the meetings. She had a wall display of ornate cups and saucers purchased from everywhere during various trips they had taken together.
I looked forward to chatting with Doris at the Legacy as she still could carry on at great conversation. I know I had asked about her family and she told me about all of you...I'm sorry for you loss.

To the Peck family,
Your Mom was a special person and would with Mrs. Tucker stop in and say " Hi" to my Mom who was also at the Legacy. Your folks were very special to my Mom, your Dad taught the citizenship class that my Mom took to become an American. Please accept our deepest condolences from the entire Peterson family.. God Bless your family in this time of deep sadness.
