I am so sorry..but I am just seeing this notice! I had Mr Knight for 8th grade Math at Denonville...I think he was very fond of me since he knew my Mom, Katherine Tucker, was head of the science dept at the high school....he always used to tell me how pretty my dresses were. And how pretty I was which always helped with my self esteem....and he always gave hugs when you did well. I never liked Math...but I loved him...he was such a great teacher I always got A's.. so sorry for your loss!! Sherri Tucker Andrews, East Falmouth, MA.

I knew Mr. Knight from the Denonville Jr. High halls from about 1960 to 1963. I saw him as friendly and very gentlemanly; tall and dark-haired; someone I respected. I thought he was "old" but see now that he was only about 36 then! I sent notices of his obit to my classmates (1967), some of whom were his math students. If anyone in his family wishes to contact me at carltonmt@hotmail.com, I will forward their comments to you. He was a fine man and I immediately remembered him when Nancy Zimmer forwarded his obit. My Mom is Katharine Tucker Zarik. 93, who taught biology at PHS and also knew him. My thought are with you at this sad time.

I met Bill only a little over a year ago, it's amazing how in that short amount of time someone can touch yourself and your family so closely. He always had a smile when I came to see him, especially when I brought my daughter. I and my family will deeply miss that smile.

From the moment I met Bill I knew he was someone very special. He touched so many people, including me. His beautiful smile that seemed to radiate throughout his whole body. Everytime I saw him he wanted me to retell the story of how I first met Jay and I never tired of telling it because it gave Bill such pleasure. I will miss him.

What great memories of Bill and the gang at Denonville. He was alway so much fun to be with and I loved his boyhood stories about growing up in rural Maine. He loved life and had a great time with his students. He will be missed by the Penfield community.

I am sad to hear of Bill's passing and my thoughts and prayers go out to the entire family. I loved Bill, he is an outstanding memory of mine from my career of teaching in Penfield for 38 years. He brought his wit, intelligence, grace and skill to the job each day and because of his commitment to students and teachers created an environment in our middle school that was ideal for all of us too flourish and succeed at our daily tasks. Most of all, I shall remember and cherish his great faith in me as a teacher and full and unstinting support in all situations. Since I was a relatively young teacher at the time, he was not averse to "giving fatherly advice and council" to me with always an emphasis on assisting me to develop into an even better teacher. I was a lucky guy; I learned my craft from some masters and Bill was such a mentor. Our school district was richer for it and he should have his name hung in the "Wall of Fame" in our district office. I owe him at least this note of remembrance and my joy for knowing him and working with him.
