Obituary of Fred W. Worden

Fred W. Worden Penfield: March 29, 2009. Predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Corinne in 2005. Fred is survived by his daughter, Margaret (Peter) Patall; son, Thomas (Michele) Worden; 5 grandchildren, Erika and Peter Patall, Paige, Colin and Harrison Worden. Fred was born in Seneca Falls on February 21, 1919 to parents, Edmund and Carrie Worden. Active in both sports and music, he graduated from Mynderse Academy and enlisted in the Marine Corps. As a member of the Marine Corps band during WWII, he often said how blessed he was to have played music with some of the best American musicians of his time. After the war he continued his engineering studies in Arizona. He came to Rochester to take a summer job surveying for the NYS DOT and ended up staying for the next 30 years. During his long career with the DOT he earned his Professional Engineer designation (PE) and designed many of the local roads and bridges, including the scenic section of 490 East that runs through Bushnells Basin. He was an active member of the Trinity Reformed Church and helped coordinate many of their building projects throughout the years. Fred was a loving and cherished husband, father and grandfather. A true "gentleman" he served as a tremendous role model and will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. Friends may call at Jennings, Nulton & Mattle Funeral Home, 1704 Penfield Rd., Friday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Fred's Funeral Service will be held Saturday 10 am at Trinity Reformed Church, 909 North Landing Rd. Interment White Haven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider Trinity Reformed Church or Lifetime Care Hospice.
