Obituary of Ronald F. Proud
Ronald F. Proud passed away peacefully on 11/3/24 at the age of 95.
Predeceased by his parents, George F. and Mabel P. (Jessmore); brother, David G. Proud; sister, Delores and her first husband, Jack Vadas, and her second husband, Joseph Graham; sister-in-law, Sandra Proud: nephew, David W. Proud, and special friend, Elizabeth Connaughton.
Survived by his brother, Gary Proud and sister-in-law, Mary Patricia (David) Proud, nieces and nephews, Sue (Mike) Craig, David (Joan), Greg (Cheryl), Keith (Jamie) Vadas, Leslie (Bob) Comella, Tim (Sue), Jeff (Terri) Proud, Julie (Robert) Luedke, Cory (Kim) Proud, as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.
Ronald earned his doctorate in higher education and administration. He held a masters degree in secondary education and a bachelors degree in philosophy.
Ronald enjoyed a lengthy and successful career at St.John Fisher University. He unequivocally left his mark on the university by developing the highly successful women’s athletic programs. He was instrumental in starting the Student Life Center, and in starting a high school college credit program. He began his career as an Assistant Registrar and soon afterwards became the first full-time Director of Admissions and Financial Aid. He later became the Assistant Dean and Vice President of Student Affairs.
Along with his accomplishments at Fisher, Ronald was an active member in the community . He was a spiritual man and sat on several boards of religious organizations including St. Bernard’s Institute and Cardinal Mooney HS. His passion and love for the Lord is a true testament of his moral character.
Ronald will be fondly remembered for his kindness and selfless life with most of his devotion to family, the Catholic Church and education. He focused on those in need.
Ronald loved golf and spending time at the local fishing holes. He enjoyed baseball and time with his family. He will be sorely missed by those who knew him.
Ronald’s Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 8, 10:00 A.M. at Chapel at St. Ann's, 1500 Portland Avenue, Rochester. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
