Robert A. Murray Obituary

Robert Anthony Murray, born in Cumberland, Rhode Island, in 1930, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of service, dedication, and love.



Robert proudly joined the Army in 1947, serving as part of the Old Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. He was promoted to sergeant and instructed his fellow soldiers on signals and electronics. He was stationed in Paris under General Dwight D. Eisenhower during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge in 1952, Robert pursued his passion for engineering, earning a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo.


Robert was a talented engineer who built a successful career in cryogenics and eventually became an entrepreneur. He owned two businesses in Victor, New York. His entrepreneurial spirit left a lasting impact on his community. In 2023, he took a deeply meaningful trip to Washington, DC, as a member of Honor Flight. After his return, he actively participated in veteran welcome events for his fellow servicemen and women at Rochester International Airport.


Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen (Cahill) Murray, their daughter, Megan [Kyle Robinson], and granddaughter, Coraline, as well as his daughter, Robin, his granddaughter, Elizabeth [Martin Frost], and his great-grandchildren, Dylan and Graham. He was predeceased by his son, Scott Murray.


Robert's unwavering dedication to family and country will be remembered by all who knew him.


Calling hours will be held at Jennings, Nulton & Mattle Funeral Home, 1704 Penfield Road, Penfield, NY on Friday, November 8 from 3-7PM.


A memorial service will be held at Assumption Church, Fairport, NY on Saturday, November 9 at 10AM.
