Obituary of Ryder Marcus Whitman

Our beloved Ryder Marcus Whitman,18 years old, tragically left us on September 12th due to a fatal motorcycle accident in Wayland, NY.

Ryder is so loved by so many people and will be missed everyday by his mom, Sandy, dad, Kevin, and loving sister, Cami; grandparents, Deb and Jim MacWhorter, Paula and Frank Dieter and Christie & Mark Whitman; great grandmother Carter; also, his many aunts, uncles and cousins. 

Many, many of his best friends will forever remember Ryder for his presence, kind heart and giving soul.  Our lives were so much more joyful with Ryder. His deep Christian faith will help sustain us during our sorrow.

His passion for life did not go unnoticed as his personality is infectious with kindness and humor.  Ryder loved to hunt, fish, ski, play golf and sporting clays.  In younger years, he played football for the Dansville Mustangs, baseball and basketball.  Ryder gave his best for his teammates. 

Ryder is a 2024 graduate of Dansville High School and started his college career at Alfred State in the Heavy Equipment Operations Program. Ryder's career path was chosen by him as he worked with his dad, Kevin, at Whitco.  He knew in his heart this is where he wanted to make his mark on life.  Ryder's future looked bright as he was an intelligent and hard working young man. 

We know Ryder lived only a short life, but it was full of so much love and happiness as he gave so much of himself to others.  Ryder's friends are a true testament of his kind heart. 

Our lives will never be the same, but remembering and cherishing Ryder will help fill the hole in our hearts. 

In lieu of flowers for those that wish to honor his memory in a tangible manner, the family of Ryder Whitman is asking you to consider making a charitable donation to the organization of your choice.  The Dansville Junior Mustangs, Ducks Unlimited, and Dansville Foursquare Church are particularly close to his heart and would be much appreciated. 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, from 4-7 pm at the Dansville Foursquare Church, 49 West Avenue, Dansville.  His Funeral Service will be on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the same church.
