Chip and I send our condolences to the Platania family.... we have grown old together and watched the changes in Penfield over 50 years or so and cherish memories of the generosity and passion of.our younger selves! May we grow in grace as we enter this chapter of our lives.

My deepest sympathy Joe and the family. My late husband, Paul and I, enjoyed many Sunday nights playing racquetball at Shadow Lake with you and Maryann. She was a lovely lady.

Maryann and I were classmates at St. Joseph’s School of Nursing and my was husband was a friend and classmate of Joe’s at LeMoyne. I always will always remember her sense of humor and just her ability to enjoy life. I always felt, no matter how long it was between visits, it always felt like we picked where we left off. Joe and family we have lost a very special lady. Bonnie

I knew Maryann for 54 years. We gave birth to our first babies at nearly the same time. She was such s good and caring person that she will not have to wait long for her wings. We all loved to share in her wonderful life!

When I think of Maryann, what comes to mind immediately is her smile. It was warm and welcoming. She was such a kind person, with compassion and sympathy for anyone going through a difficult time. She actually listened to others. I recall clearly her perfect notes to my wife and me. They were thankful and praiseworthy. When we were together, Maryann enjoyed a spirited discussion of politics and current events. She was intelligent and well informed. She respected the views of others. I will miss her so much.

To Joe, Joseph, Bridget, and Families,
I am so sorry to read of Maryann's passing away much too soon on her life's journey.. When my husband was a "resident" of Shepherd Home eighteen years ago, Maryann was a true source of comfort and understanding to me--and to him-- as he literally withered and wandered away from our world. We were blessed to have known her and to have been in her care. God bless you.
Sincerely, Pat Van Kouwenberg

Joe and Family,
Truer words could not be written about Maryann. We were lucky (blessed) enough to experience Maryann's gift for listening, handwritten notes (many which I have saved) and her caring conversation style. Even though there may have been gaps between our get-togethers for breakfast and dinner (over a 35 year span), Maryann always remembered the details of our lives and was truly interested in knowing (and celebrating) all the updated news. We would leave our meetings feeling extra special. What a wonderful woman who has provided us with a model of how to live and love well.
We send our deepest sympathies and are so sorry to hear this news.
Fondly,
Karen and Jim Zielinski

Maryann graduated with me from nursing school. She was not only a lovely person but also a spitfire. Loved her sense of humor. Her family lived next to the first St Joseph’s Church which was my home parish and brought back many memories May she rest in peace and May her family be consoled with many wonderful memories
