Raymond Naab

July 25, 1930 – May 27, 2024

Ray was a kind, gentle man who was a hero to both his family and his country, leaving behind a wonderful legacy.  He was blessed with 93 wonderful years of life, during which he touched many people and developed many close friendships.

He is survived by his children, Marie (Mark) Hollenbeck, Karen (Steve) Manetta, David (Linda) Naab, Sandie (Ron) Jonas, Doug (Corey) Naab. Also survived by grandchildren, Nicholas (Casey) Hollenbeck, Brittany Hollenbeck, Kristin (Jim) Ziegler, Jessica Dillenbeck, Leanna (Kevin) Banks, Michael Naab, Carly (Robert) Foster, Emily Ives, John Ives, Spencer Naab, Parker Naab, Brad (Mary) Jonas, Zach Jonas, Chelsea Jonas. Also survived by great-grandchildren, Annaliese and Kurt Ziegler, Lola Hollenbeck, Harrison and Hudson Banks, Isabel Jonas. Ray is also survived by his brother, Carl (Nena) Naab, and brother-in-law, Don (Sharon) Eich  along with numerous nieces, nephews and many close friends.

He is predeceased by his loving wife, Marjorie, who he spent 67 wonderful years with. Ray is also predeceased by his brother, Ken Naab and sister-in-law, Shirley Naab, sister-in-law, Joan Reeb and husband, Fred Reeb, nephew, Tom Naab and nieces, Ann Inzana and Debbie Naab.

Ray was raised in Buffalo, NY, and graduated from Purdue University with an Electrical Engineering degree. He enjoyed a long and productive career working at Bell Aerospace, Sylvania, Xerox and Computer Consoles. The last sixty years Ray was a loving husband, father and grandfather, settling and raising his family in Penfield, NY.  Ray enjoyed working with his ham radio, hunting, fishing and watching his children and grandchildren play sports. He retired as a Lieutenant Naval Commander and proudly served his country in the Korean War.

At 91 he traveled to Washington, D.C. on the Honor Flight and was honored to be asked to lay the wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.  Ray was a jack of all trades, always helping the family with whatever they needed fixing.  He enjoyed many years at the family cabin in Prattsburg, NY, tinkering with his many projects and entertaining his friends and family.

Ray spent his final years at The Legacy where he made many new friends.   We are sure they will miss his vibrant humor and his friendship, as will we all.

The family will be receiving friends and family on Tuesday, June 4 at Assumption Church, 20 East Avenue, Fairport from 10:15 to 11:15 am in the church’s living room followed by Mass at 11:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Honor Flight Rochester Donations, PO Box 23581, Rochester, NY 14692.
