Grandpa Shepard,
I miss you dearly but am glad that you have passed on to a better place. You know my Grandpa Gizzi, your next door neighbor from all those years ago, passed on a few years ago as well and I can already imagine you two in Heaven coming up with some playful scheme together to cause a little bit of trouble and an awful lot of laughs! or visiting some of your favorite celebrities. I wonder if you will build a house there like the beautiful little one you built here on earth. You were a great handy man too--I remember you always coming to our house to put up shelves or things helping to finish our basement off (it's also no wonder my dad is such a great mechanic with the skills you passed on to him and I don't doubt every time he fixes something the way you showed him he thinks of you just as the rest of us do). Then after a hard day of work you would come up the stairs and pull me around in my little plastic wagon or get on the floor and help me with the hair of my My Little Ponies--I know its every Grandpa's dream to help their little granddaughter style the manes of plastic ponies since the Grandmas get to help with the Barbies... or when I got older you would get out a tub of ice cream and teach me to play cards with Grandma, Mom, Dad, and Joe. Sometimes you would conspire to "let me win" even though I swear I did it on my own! My favorite game was definitely Kings in the Corner or Sevens, I never quite caught on to the idea of Hearts though. I have such good memories with you, my only sorrow is that I didn't get to spend as much time with you in the later years. I want you to know how much I love you and that I appreciate you looking after me from Heaven I feel your presence everyday.
I've always loved you and always will,
Katy

Dad,
Where do I begin to thank you for being the most loving and caring dad? You were always there when I needed you without hesitation. I consider it an honor to be your daughter and only hope to be as great a parent as you were. Every time Elise smiles that mischievous smile I see you in her, and know your not far. I'll miss you dad and a part of my heart goes with you.
