Gary was born August 26, 1942, in Rochester, NY, and was raised in the Meister homestead in Rush, NY

He was drafted and served in the Army 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam war. He was a past commander of the American Legion Connor Stevens Post in Rush, NY, and lifetime member of the Honeoye Falls Mendon Post 664 in Honeoye Falls, NY. He also served in the Rush and Honeoye Falls Fire Departments. Gary retired from Gleason Works after 30 years of service. He coached his boys in football in Honeoye Falls and never missed a football game when his boys played in Fairport. Gary and his wife, Lucy, traveled to all the Virgin Islands and also 13 different countries around the world. When his wife was diagnosed with Alzheimers, they moved to Williamsburg from Florida. Gary moved in with his son, Jeff, and Lucy lived in a memory care unit where dad visited her everyday until her death during Covid. He loved spending time with his son, Jeff, watching the Bills, Sabres, Nascar & golf on the TV. A highlight of in his life is when he attended a Bills game and the Daytona 500 with his sons. Our dad lived his perfect life while in Florida.  He did volunteer chaplain work in the Florida prison system and they attended the catholic church religiously. We will never forget the very large gold bling crucifix necklaces he bought us to wear. We will cherish the Meister family reunions at Cousin Billy's home (his buddy and partner in crime) and listening to all the great stories of their childhood. We are all sad, but also happy that he is back with his wife because that's all he really wanted.

There will be no prior calling.  a Memorial Service and a graveside service will be held privately with military honors in Pine Hill Cemetery Rush, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Veterans Outreach Center 447 South Ave., Rochester, NY, 14620.

A special thanks to his son, Jeff and daughter-in-law, Amy,  for their awesome care these last seven years. Bro you were truly his best friend.
