You brought joy every day to all who saw you. A great many young people found their love of sport through your mentorship. You were very special to many more people than you knew. We will miss you.

Jerry an I had many great times together! I will always remember the times we were at SPEBSQSA conventions together, either as “roomies”, singing together, having a cold one (or two), woodshedding…just having fun! I will miss you, my friend—

Dear Pam and Tom,
Like so many others who will send their condolences to you, I fell under the spell of Jerry and Jean as soon as I began my life as a Penfield Junior High School teacher. They were a special couple who helped me embark on a long and happy career as a teacher, in their minds the highest calling to which one could aspire. How sad for you to lose them both within such a short span of time, yet how wonderful that they spent only a breath apart before they were rejoined in heaven. God bless them and you. Dear Pam, Tom and families,
Please accept our sympathy on the passing of your dear father. Jerry was more than a friend and mentor. He was a dear life guide to me in the formative years of my long teaching career, a number of which were spent personally teaching and working directly on numerous school projects with him. One day, when I was a relatively new teacher he asked me out of the blue, “How would like to go to Toronto with me?” Thus was born our school’s long time yearly class trip to Toronto and all the school activities that surrounded that unifying endeavor. The feature of our popular yearly trip with all our students was the Toronto Museum and Science Center, dear to Jerry’s heart and teaching subject. This was also the start of our long friendship, teaching partnership and personally rewarding careers. It is literally impossible for me to summarize his contributions to my life and career succinctly here. Those of you who knew him certainly recall the tremendous range of his personal influences in his many endeavors. His kindness, humor and memory will long be treasured in the many his life touched! It is certainly sad to say goodbye to such a stellar partnership he had with his wife and family. If I could leave him with only one memory from hundreds it would be his warmth, friendship and guidance in my career. He served his friends, community and interests with enthusiasm and love. I salute him today and shall remember him always. May he rest in Peace.

I have been a long time friend of Jerry’s daughter, Pam. It was through Pam that I met Jerry. When I first met mom and dad, I loved their sense of humor and the way they welcomed me in to their home. Through the years, they made me feel like part of the family. It is hard for me to write a memory by just mentioning one of them, I generally saw mom and dad together. Up at the lake, I do remember dad taking me on a golf cart ride years ago all over to meet his friends. everyone I met was so personable and seemed like such fun. The banter back and forth between Jerry and his friends was quick witted and joyful. As I think of it, the banter between mom and dad was the same. When I visited dad in the nursing home, he was always in a good mood. It was such a pleasure to sit with mom and dad outside the nursing home in beautiful weather and have lunch with Pam and her parents. When Covid came, Pam and I had to view and talk to both of them through a window but at least we got to see them. I never called Jean by her name. She was always mom to me. I never called Jerry by his name. He was always dad to me. May you both rest in peace after your many years on earth. May God bless you always. Love, lMary Ann Harrigan

Dear Pam, Tom and Families,
We are so saddened to learn of your Dad's passing. What a tremendous legacy he has left. He has touched the lives of multitudes of students, fellow educators, Barbershop buddies, and friends by truly caring and wanting the best for them. He was a true teacher, his entire life. I would venture to say he has to lead the profession in the number of curriculum areas he taught in his retirement. His kindness, thoughtfulness and that sly smile emanated wherever he was. Now he is joking with and singing to Jean, and she is blushing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this emotional time. Rest in Peace, Jean and Jerry. God bless all of you. Sincerely, Sue and John
