Penfield:  September 27, 2023 at age 86.  Predeceased by her brother, Bernard F. Cullen.  Survived by her children, John B., Mary Beth (Martin) Cox, Karen (Scott) Kosten & Jennifer (Michael) Mulherin; grandchildren, Hillary (Casey) Rankin, Kevin (Amanda) Cox, Abigail (Michael Egan) Cox, Jamie & Laura Kosten, Grant & Marie Mulherin; great- grandson, Theodore Rankin; sister, Kathleen Olsen and several nieces & nephews.

Mary Ellen was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend.   She was born on April 17, 1937 in Buffalo NY to the late Catherine and Bernard Cullen.  She moved to Rochester in 1964 and raised her family.   Mary Ellen was an active volunteer at St. Joseph’s church & school and was parish council secretary, eucharistic minister and for many years, part of the ‘Money Counting Team’.  She loved to garden, was a wonderful knitter, amazing cook and shared these gifts readily with her family.  She loved dogs; especially her beagles over the years. Mary Ellen had great faith and was a constant example of kindness to us.   She will be greatly missed and always remembered.

No prior calling.  Mary Ellen’s funeral mass will be Monday, October 2, at St. Joseph’s Church, 43 Gebhardt Rd, Penfield, NY at 11:00 a.m.  Interment St. Joseph’s Cemetery.   Those wishing may contribute to Our Lady of Mercy School for Young Women, 1437 Blossom Rd, Rochester, NY
