What beautiful memories we all have of aunt Dee! I will miss her so much! Her love, her humor, and the way she always had positive, uplifting advice for me when ever I needed it. …. My favorite memory is when we had newly discovered cousins from Massachusetts come to visit. She so graciously opened her home to all of us, so we could all share pictures and stories and just have a blessed time of getting to know each other! It was a wonderfully fun and love filled day! We all sat down to a phenomenal dinner of lasagna, garlic bread and salad. We all thought it was AMAZING! When we gave her compliments on how good it was, she said “oh thank you, I worked really hard… “ as she got up went to the kitchen and brought out the stouffers box! We couldn’t believe it!!! We all laughed so hard! But the truth is… it was her love, and special gift of making us all feel so welcome that made that dinner taste as amazing as it did. I know my cousins and I will always remember that special day when we could all get together and make bonds that will never disappear. I love you aunt Dee- can’t wait to see you again with our Savior!

I shall miss the wit and humor and caring. She gives new meaning to “rejoicing” as she sees John and all of our relatives. What a beautiful picture. I love you, Dolores

Dee and John were so welcoming when my husband and I started attending Browncroft Community Church 30! years ago. Dee knew my mother in law, and it was so nice to worship with people of that generation! I sang in the choir and Dee’s love of the Lord, and love of fun, came through at every rehearsal! I was able to have a long visit with her at her home a couple of weeks before she entered hospice. Still a ray of sunshine, and so many stories of her kids and beloved ,John. Thanks be to God for her life, and the eternity she will share with her Savior!

I absolutely LOVE Dee! Her laughter, quick smile and unending kindness permeated the corridors of Browncroft, where I was on staff in Children’s Ministries for 7 years. When my husband died suddenly (we were 48 at the time), Dee was always ready with a hug to greet me. She never shied away from talking about Jeff—she knew how soothing it is for a widow to talk about her husband. My fondest memory was after a couple years, the conversation about “dating” came up. She encouraged me, because of my age, to consider it! I asked HER about dating and she told me her kids kept telling her to go out and try to meet someone, but she leaned in and told me, “what am I supposed to do? Put out and ad ‘looking for a 50 year old man, rich and drop dead gorgeous? They’d say, “50???” And I’d say, “have you seen the men MY age?? I’m not a purse and I’m not a nurse!” I can’t tell you how many people I shared that story with! My heart hurts for all of you…my regret is that though she new I met my current husband (age 50), and I did introduce them once when he visited Browncroft, after I left employment there in 2013 and got married in 2016, I forgot to invite her to my wedding. I hope this story gives your breaking hearts a smile. Know that though your Mom may have been little in stature, she will always be mighty in my eyes.

Never have I read an obituary that captures the whole of the person like this one... absolutely beautiful. I have so many fond memories of my favorite aunt but in the light of self depreciation, when we were little, John and Dee would visit us quite regularly and Dee would surprise us with a belch and we would laugh so hard and ask her to do it again and her response would always be "oh honey, that's not ladylike"! I love you Aunt Dee and you will forever be in my heart until I see you again in heaven. ❤️ Suzanne
