Margaret Ann "Marge" Hiliger, née Scholz: A Life Remembered
Born: January 9, 1930, Died: August 22, 2023
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Margaret Ann "Marge" Hiliger, a beacon of love, positivity, and unwavering support to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Marge, whose trademark was her radiant smile that could light up any room, passed away on August 22, 2023, at the age of 93, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and kindness that will forever be engraved in the hearts of her loved ones.
Marge's life was a testament to the beauty of unwavering devotion and enduring faith. She was preceded in death by her cherished husband of 53 years, Richard E. Hiliger Sr. Their bond was a source of inspiration to all who witnessed it, a love that weathered life's challenges and blossomed in the most tender moments.
For six decades, Marge called Penfield, New York, her home. It was here that she lovingly nurtured her family, creating an atmosphere of love, acceptance, and unbreakable bonds. Marge was the proud mother of four children: Lynn (Steve) Pembroke, Mary Ellen (William) Nagel, the late Richard E. Hiliger Jr. (Sandra Peters), and Michael (Donna) Hiliger.
Marge's legacy extended to her nine cherished grandchildren: Michael (Valoree) Pembroke, Sarah (Lee) Wade, Benjamin (Ashley) Nagel, Adam (Lauren) Nagel, Anna (Stratton) Allen, Darlene (Joshua) Perkins, Denise (Gregory) Stevens, Jennifer (Steven) Lega, and Nicole (Kevin) DeRoller. She was also blessed with 22 great-grandchildren who brought endless joy to her life.
Family, friends, and the simple pleasures in life held a special place in Marge's heart. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, creating memories and sharing stories that will be passed down for generations. Her backyard and pond were a gathering place for laughter and reflection, and her fondness for ice cream were symbolic of her ability to find joy in life's simplest treasures.
Marge's passions were as vibrant as her spirit. She had a talent for China doll painting and ceramics, channeling her creativity into exquisite pieces of art that reflected her inner beauty. Her love for gardening was evident in the blossoming beauty of her surroundings, and her backyard pond became a tranquil oasis that mirrored her nurturing soul.
Her sense of community was evident through her service work, including transcribing braille and volunteering at her cherished church. Marge's hands were always ready to help those in need, a testament to her generous spirit.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made in Marge's memory to your favorite charity, continuing her tradition of spreading love and compassion to those in need.
Marge's life will be celebrated during a wake on Thursday, August 31, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Jennings, Nulton & Mattle Funeral Home, located at 1704 Penfield Road, Penfield, NY 14526.
