Obituary of Joan Cecile Soulia
---On June 21, 2023...Joan Cecile Soulia passed away at her home at the age of 76 after so many years of difficult health issues. Joan passed in her sleep while her son Randal Soulia and niece Karen Deuber watched over her.
Joan grew up in St Johnsbury Vermont. Upon graduating from St Johnsbury Academy and leaving home, she eventually met Donald Albert Soulia, moved to Waltham Massachusetts and got married.Joan was a teacher for many years, and after her only son Randal was born, Joan went back to work in automotive manufacturing for the remainder of her career. Which she so enjoyed.
Don and Joan had a camp on Miles Pond in Concord Vermont for nearly 30 years. Joan and her family and relatives spent countless good times at camp. Joan really enjoyed fishing, but she always had to throw back the Johnny Fish! Wink wink! Don and Joan were married for over 50 years.
Joan eventually moved to The Legacy at Clover Blossom apartments, and she absolutely thrived as a member of the community! Joan volunteered every week to help set up the chapel for weekly services. She also volunteered to read every week or two, and everyone loved to listen to her read. She did it with such enthusiasm!
Joan loved going to art classes and playing Wii Tennis every week. Everybody loved Joan, and Joan so loved and valued her close friends and neighbors. Joan also rediscovered her artistic skills. She loved diamond painting, painting free-hand, and she created so many different and wonderful gifts with her own hands to give to the very special people in her life. She always gave from her heart.
Joan did not know how to give up. The amount of strength and courage that Joan had was unmatched by anyone who knew her. And those who knew her...loved her with every inch of their being. The loss of an amazing person such as Joan will be felt by many for quite some time. And there's no way that we will ever forget her. However she would want us all to continue on and be happy knowing that she is free to roam the stars forever in peace.
Joan is survived by her son Randal, and so many friends and family. An extra big thank you to Karen, Wizzy, Kelly and Rick for all of the incredible love and support for so many years.---
Her Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at 10:00 a.m., St. Joseph's Church, 43 Gebhardt, Penfield.
