Obituary of Andrew J. Stutzman

Andrew Stutzman passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at the age of 95. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Beverly. He is survived by his children Kathleen Hirt, Andrew, Kevin (Wendy), Joseph (Rachel), John (Darcie) and Michael, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was an Army veteran where he spent most of his service time at an Army Air Corp. airfield in Manila, Philippines in the mid-1940’s.

He was a life member of the Perinton, NY VFW Post 8495, and a past Commander of American Legion Braman Post 1229 in Penfield, NY where he often lead the Independence Day parade carrying the American flag.

He worked in the defense and aerospace fields in New Jersey, including direct work on Minuteman and Polaris missile programs. In 1970, he moved with his family to Penfield, New York and accepted a position with Xerox Corporation.

He was a three-cushion billiard champion in New Jersey. While in the service he played on Army baseball teams. Afterwards, he played on many fast pitch softball championship teams. After moving to New York, he played slow pitch softball which extended his ball playing for many years.

He sang bass in the choir at St. Joseph’s Church for more than 50 years. He enjoyed being out on the golf course and bowling, although he was not good at either!

A combined memorial service for Andrew and Beverly (who passed away in November, 2022) will be held at St. Joseph’s Church, Penfield, NY, on Saturday, June 17 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
