Obituary of Richard Pike

Richard Pike, 92, of Penfield, NY, passed away on December 13, 2022. Dick was predeceased by his beloved wife of 66 years, Barbara (Kirkey) Pike. He was devoted to his family and leaves behind to mourn him seven children and their spouses: Richard (Rosemary), Lynne (Paul DiSanto), Timothy, Diane (Timothy State), Gary, Daniel (Sally), and Terrence. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren: Jason (Chrystal), Jamie, Casey (Christine), Gregory, Christopher, Kali (John), Alexander (Cassandra), Jennifer (Thomas), Whitney, Daniel Evan (Rachel), Sarah, Colden, and Charlee, and five great grandchildren: Kate, Ryan, Luke, Clarke, and Genevieve. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and sister-in-law, Geraldine (Cherry) Pike.

Richard was born in Troy, NY to Alfred and Elizabeth (Clother) Pike the youngest of three sons. He was predeceased by his brothers, Douglas and Alfred Stanley, and by numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. He graduated from Watervliet High School and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY. He was an avid bowler and golfer; past-president, treasurer, and coach for the Penfield Little League; long-time blood donor, and career-long professional engineer with Pfaudler Inc. Dick was a veteran of the Korean War having served as a radio operator. He was also a long time parishioner of St. Joseph’s Parish in Penfield.

Calling hours will be Monday, December 19th from 4-7 p.m. at the Jennings, Nulton & Mattle Funeral Home, 1704 Penfield Rd, Penfield.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, December 20th, at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 43 Gebhardt Road, Penfield. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, 1975 Baird Road, Penfield.  Donations can be made to the Lipson Cancer Center (Lipson Cancer Center Foundation, 330 Monroe Avenue, Suite 400, Rochester, NY 14607) or Penfield Little League (Penfield Little League, P.O. Box 39, 3100 Atlantic Avenue, Penfield, NY 14526). Donating blood to your local American Red Cross would also be a fitting tribute.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Legacy at Grande’Vie for their loving care during Dick’s last months.
