I met Phil a couple decades before I found myself living just two doors away. After having a quick laugh with Marie & my wife Lori about my brief adolescent romance with his daughter (in good fun & at my expense!), we quickly caught up with the time passed since he repaired my parents wood carving the family cat had "altered". That would be the first of many conversations had on that front porch.
Phil was always up for a good chat, the topics were as varied as his interests and his listening skills cemented him as a neighborhood ambassador. He is and will be missed.
I am better to have known him and send my sincere condolences to his family and dear friends.

I was lucky to have spent time with Phil in the last several years, including time on the beloved porch. He also showed me around his wonderful home, and we talked lanterns too! He was interested in the history of his home, his street and village, and I tried to help answer some questions, while also learning from him too.
I found Phil Embury to be a soft-spoken, kind and thoughtful man. He stopped in my office sometime in the mid to late months of 2021, and was quite interested in learning more about the history related to his specific neighborhood of Fairport. I was happy to help such a kind gentleman.
My condolences to the Embury family and friends.
Sincerely,
Bill Poray, Municipal Historian - Fairport and Perinton

I was a bank manager for many years who would help Mr. Embury on many occasions. He was, without question, the kindest man you could ever meet. Society was better when he was around and he will be missed. My deepest condolences to his family.
