Obituary of James B. Nobes

James B. “Jim” Nobes

Penfield – Went to his rest with the Lord on September 10, 2022 at age 88. He is predeceased by his parents, Bernard F. and Marie (deClerck) Nobes. Jim is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 65 years, Claudette; children, Alison (Mike) Cerquone, Timothy (Gina) and William (Jill); grandchildren, Mackendra, Brady, Patrick, Bronson and Ryan; brother, Robert (Marianne); several nieces and nephews.

Jim was born on November 13, 1933 in the town of Brighton. He graduated from Brighton High School in 1951. He attended the University of Rochester for 2 years before deciding to join the US Navy as the Korean War was coming to a close. When based in Rhode Island with 2 months of active duty left, he met Claudette and found true love. They decided to continue to write each other while Jim continued to get his college degree. After 2 years and hundreds of letters, they set a wedding date, married and moved to Rochester where he secured his BS in Business Administration. Jim landed a job at Xerox where he spent most of his working life until retirement.

Jim loved golf and helping underprivileged students obtain their high school diplomas. He was a tutor with Literacy Volunteers of Rochester. His fondest memory was watching his grandchildren play sports for their school teams.

Family and friends may call at Jennings, Nulton & Mattle Funeral Home, 1704 Penfield Road, Sunday, September 18, 3-6 PM.
